Area little girls came out with their FAVORITE big girls to enjoy the PRISSY POLKA DILLY TEA PARTY to benefit Exploration Station on Tuesday, May 13, 2008. This year’s fundraiser was sponsored by BB&T Insurance Services, Inc.; Century 21 – The Real Estate Center; Eric West, Attorney at Law; and State Farm Insurance – Josh Whitley, agent. The Osterneck Auditorium was transformed into a dazzling tea room to accommodate this night of FUN, FELLOWSHIP, & FUNDRAISING. Approximately 70 little girls and their FAVORITE BIG girls attended this year’s annual tea party fundraiser event. Served with the raspberry tea and pink lemonade was an assortment of hors d’oeuvres including: tea cup shaped cup cakes, assorted tea sandwiches, lady fingers, cheese daisies, cookies, and assorted muffins & scones. The ladies were served by some of our dedicated Dads and other willing participants from the Kiwanis of Lumberton. The servers for the evening were as follows: Michael Hall, Deryl Little, Tom Stephenson, Josh Stone, Kevin Stone, Joe Terranova, Daniel Walters, and Elliott Williamson.

In addition to the tea party and refreshments, the little girls were treated in the DIVA SALON to a glitter makeover complete with makeup and nail polish by the staff of Girlees & Brothers, Too! of Lumberton, NC. The Girl Scout Troop from Chestnut Street UMC assisted the young attendees in crafts including making their own PRISSY POLKA DILLY photo frame, and decorating commemorative tea cups and tea pots as keepsakes. The photographers from DIGITAL CREATIONS captured this mommy & me time on film and will provide complimentary 4x6 images for all attendees. Other support and assistance for this year’s event
Was provided by: Trey Meekins – auctioneer with Meekins Auction & Realty, Greenstate Landscaping – flowers & ferns, Buds & Blooms – trees & greenery, Town of Lumberton – sound system, Flowers by Billy – floral centerpiece & boutonnières for the tuxedo clad servers, The music for the evening was provided by Ray Harris from 1st Presbyterian Church in Lumberton, NC.

Devoted Dads and members of Kiwanis Club served the girls in the Prissy Polka Dilly Tea Room. Servers were as follows: Elliott Williamson, Tom Stephenson, Joe Terranova, Deryl Little, Michael Hall, Daniel Walters,Kevin Stone, and Josh Stone.

The Silent and Live Auctions at the event raised over $4000 to support the cause, and that doesn’t include the proceeds from ticket sales. Preliminary totals indicate around $6500-$7000 was raised with this event. Auction items were generously donated by business and community members across the region. Features in the live auction included a handpainted toy box donated by Frank’s Furniture and painted by Be Be Bollinger, various children’s party events and opportunities, membership to Lumberton Racquet & Swim Club, Designer children’s bedding & Vera Bradley sunglasses.

Tea party attendees shopped at the silent auction for goodies including jewelry, hand made dresses, cooking sets, gift baskets,and gift certificates for services like lawn care, legal services, and MORE. All items were donated by local and regional businesses and individuals.
